The Story of A Song:
How A Kid’s Passion Can Turn Into Music

Meet Jackson!

Jackson is a 6th grader…
… a magician…

…and, most importantly,…

…a scientist!

Jackson has his very own YouTube channel where he helps kids with muscular diseases and physical disabilities stay active during quarantine, and, of course, shares science experiments! We met Jackson virtually at Double H Ranch camp in July 2020.

In our Hear Your Song session, we found out something super cool about Jackson.

Jackson loves the periodic table of elements … A LOT. He memorized every element in order and started his own collection of elements at home. He even named his cat Neon!

With the support of Hear Your Song volunteers,
Jackson wrote the chorus of his song and a verse about the alkali metals.

Chorus: Here are the elements of the periodic table

They all have a definition on their label

Some of them aren’t stable

The elements make up everything!

Now, what are they?

Jackson had a ton of musical ideas for his song:

Violins! Trumpets! Synthesizer!
A different singer for every verse
Starts slow and gets faster and faster and faster

But there were still 112 elements to go!

A week later, Jackson had finished his lyrics: all 14 verses! Jackson’s song includes facts about every single element in the universe from Actinium to Zirconium. We assembled an ensemble of incredible musicians and singers to bring to life one of the most legendary songs in Hear Your Song history!

So, what did Jackson think of his song?
We’ll let him tell you:

“This summer at virtual camp with Double H Ranch, I got to work with Hear Your Song! I wrote all the lyrics to a song about the periodic table and then Hear Your Song put it to music the way I wanted, and even used the instruments I asked them to add in! I'm so proud of this song and so grateful to Hear Your Song for creating this for me!” - Jackson
